Celebrate the start of the new year with a wonderful Music at Noon Program. Rabbi Joey Felsen will provide some inspirational thoughts on the meaning of the holiday, followed by a musical performance by pianist Frank Lévy.
Rabbi Joey Felsen, Founder and Executive Director of the Jewish Study Network (JSN), hails from Toronto, Canada. A skilled educator, Rabbi Felsen teaches classes at the JCCs in Palo Alto and Los Gatos, as well as a host of other venues. He is the founding Board President of Meira Academy and a recipient of the prestigious Grinspoon-Steinhardt National Award for Excellence in Jewish Education.
Pianist Frank Lévy has been hailed by audiences and critics alike as an artist of rare poetic insight and communicative powers. A semi-finalist in the Leeds and Clara Haskil International Piano Competitions, Frank has an international career as a recitalist performing at Avery Fisher Hall in New York, Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, Gusman Hall in Miami, Royce Hall in Los Angeles, The Gardner Hall in Salt Lake City, and the Stadthaussaal in Winterthur.
Mr. Lévy is recording complete piano works of Schubert and Brahms for the Canadian label Palexa. His recordings and live performances have been broadcast by WQXR in New York City, the BBC in London, the RSR in Switzerland and the CBC in Canada.
He is also Professor of Piano at San Jose State University School of Music and Dance. Mr. Lévy taught at the Juilliard School Pre-College Division for 13 years (1995-2008) and in the DMA program of the CUNY Graduate Center (2008-2012). He has been artist/teacher at the International Keyboard Institute and Festival in New York City, Schlern International Music Festival in Italy, and the Beijing International Music Festival and Academy, among others.
