Hebrew for "Hand in Hand"
Our engaging Yad B' Yad parent participation program is a cornerstone for new and returning families to the OFJCC. The program provides a safe, warm, loving and welcoming environment—a second home for children and parents. It is designed to encourage friendships and develop a community rooted in Jewish values.
Yad B' Yad integrates age-appropriate early childhood concepts including constructivist/Reggio Emilia-inspired practices, play-based learning and an appreciation for nature with the use of natural, open-ended materials. With their parent or caregiver by their side, children learn to play both cooperatively and independently.
Developed and led by Shuly Paret, Yad B' Yad Program Director and a warm and nurturing teacher, all activities encourage positive interactions between parents and children and stimulating discussions between adults. Each day brings a balance of structured and unstructured fun and learning.
- Discussions of relevant parenting issues led by parenting professionals
- Celebrations of Jewish holidays and Shabbat geared to young children
- Music and movement
- Art and indoor/outdoor play
When your child turns 18 months old, you may choose to keep them in Yad B' Yad or have them join us in our Toddler Program for children 18–23 months (if space is available).
