The Jewish Study Network, in conjunction with the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center, presents Rise Up Again! The Great Big Challah Bake: Reconnecting, Recharging and Renewing our Community.
Join us for our Great Big Challah Bake as we come back together to weave challah dough, reconnect after time apart and recharge and renew our community.
You will receive all the ingredients needed to make your own challah. Get ready for an evening of unity and inspiration as we mix, knead, dance and learn the art of making and braiding this delicious Shabbat bread.
Our speaker for the evening is
Susie Fishman, the founder of Meet My Kneads
®, which addresses food insecurity on college campuses. As an engineer, educator and avid home baker, Susie spent most of her career building reliable supply chains and productive teams while showing up to the office with fresh baked goods. When she became aware of the urgent need to address student hunger, her tikkun olam reflex kicked in and she took action to support at-risk students and promote equity.
As an extension of her baking obsession, Susie also creates and sells inventive, kosher spice blends for the home chef with profits going to support Swipe Out Hunger and Nazun (formerly Challah for Hunger).
As we come back together, the elderly that have been isolated during COVID are at the forefront of our minds. This year, in honor of reconnecting, each table will make Shabbat packages for the elderly to be delivered on Friday. Jewish Study Network will be accepting $15 donations for the creation of these packages.
