Join Tzavta Club to hear Dr. Jay Feldman, who will discuss spacecraft heatshield engineering (including some fun facts), describe some exciting NASA missions that use heatshields and share a variety of videos that demonstrate some of the heatshield testing and mission overviews.

Dr. Feldman is a senior research scientist and materials engineer in the Thermal Protection Systems and Materials branch at NASA Ames Research Center. At Ames, he has worked on the research and development of thermal protection materials across a wide range of technology readiness levels. Feldman is the co-inventor of 3D Woven Thermal Protection Systems, which is being developed for the Mars Sample Return vehicle that will bring samples back to Earth in about ten years. His invention, 3D-MAT, is a structural ablator used at the connection points between Orion Multipurpose Crew Vehicle's crew and service modules, the successful flight that has led to Feldman's team being awarded the NASA Invention of the Year Award.

The lecture will take place in English.
