ייעודו של יום הזיכרון לחללי מערכות ישראל הוא התייחדות של אזרחי ישראל עם
זכר הנופלים במערכות ישראל, אשר בזכות הקרבתם המדינה קיימת. יום זה מצוין
מדי שנה בשנה בד' באייר או בסמוך לתאריך זה, ותמיד יום אחד לפני יום
העצמאות, כדי לסמל ולהדגיש את הקשר שבין הנופלים ומסירות נפשם ובין תקומת
מדינת ישראל. ביום הזיכרון ה'תשע"ז
(2018) עמד מניין חללי מערכות ישראל על
23,646.

טקס יום הזכרון הוא ארוע המתקיים מדי שנה בהובלת ה[email protected]
ומתנדבים מהקהילה, העומלים חודשים רבים על מנת להפיק טקס מרגש ומכובד.
השנה, לא נוכל לקיים את הטקס במיקומו הקבוע ב-OFJCC
בשל הבנייה המתקיימת בו. הצלחנו
למצוא ולשריין אולם חיצוני במרכז הכנסים בסנטה קלרה. בשל כך, כפי שכולנו מבינים,
העלויות השנה גבוהות מהרגיל. ההוצאות כוללות בין היתר את שכירת
האולם, ציוד הגברה ותאורה, תפאורה ואבטחה.
כידוע, הכניסה לארוע הינה חופשית לכל, אך

Yom Hazikaron is the Day of Remembrance for the Fallen Soldiers of Israel and Victims of Terrorism and is Israel's official Memorial Day, enacted into law in 1963.
As of Yom Hazikaron 2018, the number of fallen soldiers and victims of terror was 23,646. The day opens with a siren which is also heard the preceding evening all over the country. It lasts for one minute, during which time Israelis stop everything (including driving, which stops traffic on highways) and stand in silence, commemorating the fallen and showing respect.
A two-minute siren is sounded at 11:00 AM
the following morning, which marks the opening of the official memorial
ceremonies and private remembrance gatherings at each cemetery where
soldiers are buried. That evening, as Yom Hazikaron comes to an end,
celebrations begin for Yom Ha’atzmaut.
