In 2017, the OFJCC celebrates its third year partnering with the Krakow JCC, as a satellite JCC hosting Ride For The Living cycling classes. Join us for festive and meaningful classes to learn about the ride in Poland while learning about the Jewish community in Krakow.
Ride For The Living is an annual 55-mile bicycle ride taking place in Poland, from Auschwitz to JCC Krakow. The event not only remembers Jewish history, but celebrates and supports the miraculous rebirth of Jewish life in Poland today.
Ride For The Living was inspired by JCC Krakow member Robert Desmond who rode his bicycle 1,350 miles from London to Auschwitz visiting WWII sites of liberation along his journey. After joining the JCC and becoming an active member, he realized his ride should not have ended in a place of loss, but rather at a place of hope—JCC Krakow—joined by the Jewish community and friends from around the world.
