תמי הנה מורה מוסמכת לאנגלית וללשון עברית ובימים אלה מסיימת את כתיבת התזה במסגרת התואר השני שלה בבלשנות. לתמי ניסיון עשיר בלימוד וחקר שפות (אנגלית ועברית). היא מגיעה מכפר ורדים ובעברה עבדה כמורה במכללת צפת וניהלה את המעבדה הלשונית במכללת גליל מערבי. סטודנטים רבים שלמדו עם תמי הצליחו להתגבר על חששות בלימוד אנגלית והשלימו תואר ראשון. תמי עבדה גם כמורה בחטיבת הביניים ובתיכון בישראל, והגישה תלמידים רבים לבגרות בלשון.

תמי היא “ילדת רילוקיישן” בעצמה וכיוון שכך, מחוברת מאוד לצרכי התלמידים ולאתגרים שבלימוד עברית כשפה שנייה בארה”ב. לצד הידע התיאורטי הרב שהיא מביאה עמה, והניסיון ההוראתי בשטח, תמי מאמינה שהדבר החשוב ביותר בהוראה הוא התשוקה לכך. היא פועלת להראות לתלמידיה את היופי בשפה, תוך שימוש בהומור ודוגמאות שהיא בוחרת בקפידה על מנת שהתלמידים ירגישו בנוח. לתמי גם נסיון רב בהוראת תלמידים בעלי ליקויי למידה וידע רב בכל הקשור לרכישת שפה ראשונה ושנייה, התהליכים שעובר הילד וכיצד ניתן לסייע לו. תמי מתגוררת בסאניוויל עם בעלה ושלושת ילדיה.

Tami Segal is a qualified ESL and Hebrew grammar teacher now working on her MA thesis in linguistics. She has vast experience in teaching Hebrew and English second language learners.

She has lived in Sunnyvale since 2016 and has taught at Beged Kefet for all levels including the Ulpan. In Israel Tami worked as an ESL teacher at Israeli colleges, preparing students for English exams and ran the linguistics lab at Western Galilee College. Tami is a “relocation kid” herself and therefore understands the students’ needs and challenges involved in learning Hebrew as a second language.

Along with her academic knowledge and vast field experience Tami believes that the most important ingredient in teaching is passion. She works hard to show the students the beauty of the Hebrew language through the use of contrastive analysis and examples they can identify with and relate to. Tami also has a lot of experience teaching a second language to children with learning disabilities. She knows what processes they go through and how to help them achieve their goals.
