Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service
Mitzvah Day

“Everybody Can Be Great, Because Anybody Can Serve” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

“A community is too heavy for anyone to carry alone.” ~ Based on Deuteronomy 1:9

Honoring the Jewish value that each of us is commanded (mitzvah) to do good works, Mitzvah Day brings volunteers of all ages together as part of a National Day of Service honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Hands-on projects on Mitzvah Day address issues of poverty, hunger, housing and homelessness, aging, the environment and more. Last year, more than 1,000 individuals and families took part in 40 projects at the OFJCC and throughout the South Bay community.

Join us! Bring your friends and family to work together on various fun and meaningful projects to bring to life Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s inspirational legacy of community service, justice and equality for all.

Mitzvah Day is held in person at the Oshman Family JCC and other satellite locations.
