OUR IMPACT STORY

Grandparents and Special Friends Day

Grandparents and Special Friends Day at the Leslie Family Preschool, held on May 9, was a heartwarming celebration that honored the deep bonds between generations and highlighted the vibrant spirit of the OFJCC community.

The morning began with a Shabbat gathering inside the classrooms, where children joyfully welcomed their grandparents and special friends by sharing songs, blessings and traditions that reflect the preschool’s values. The atmosphere was filled with pride and affection as guests participated in cherished rituals alongside their little ones and teachers.

Following the Shabbat celebration, families engaged in creative, hands-on activities of decorating personalized challah covers and making challah from scratch—an experience that fostered connection, laughter and lasting memories. After heartfelt goodbyes with the children, grandparents and friends transitioned to an adults-only brunch, where they enjoyed a delicious meal and participated in an insightful workshop led by Nina Frank, a family therapist and preschool parent.

The workshop offered meaningful reflections on intergenerational relationships and the joys and challenges of supporting young families. The day served as a beautiful reminder of the vital role of love, tradition and community in our children’s lives and the enduring impact of nurturing those connections across generations
